So that's what you do with youngsters
For my sins watched Liverpool v Chelsea last night and it turned out to be quite an eye opener for me.

No good asking for names but Liverpools right back was man of the match and brilliant, think he was 19. They also brought on an 18 year old who was excellent, in fact youngsters were scattered all over the pitch. Whatever happened to the 'West Ham Academy', does it still exist and are they allowed to train with the first team? Anyone who thinks moyes is doing a good job might well ask themselves 'where are our youngsters'?

Casey, Mubama, Scarlet and Orford on the bench tonight

They all had to arrive early so Moyes could meet them for the first time !

Good book that. Disgraceful the way they got rid of Carr. Loads of ex Hammers and I am sure from many other clubs seem to get treated disgracefully when they are told they are leaving. Can understand it's the nature of the business but surely do it properly.

I agree makes no sense. We have one of the best junior teams, but dont use them and others use their supposedly worse players and get great results? Hate to say, but it has to be a big part due to Moyes. If we do sell Fornals, Benrahma and Cornet, surely not even Moyes can ignore our youngsters.

No bungs and back-handers on offer bringing through home-grown players.

Moyes has to take responsibility if at least 3-5 of this crop don't become first team squad members

they were the best at 18s, they are very good at 21s. The manager has to work them into the first team squad

Scarles, Marshall, Earthy, Orford should all be given enough chance and nurtured to not only improve our home grown quota but to allow us to spend the transfer budget elsewhere on better players. It also will boost our FFP should we increase their value and choose to move them on down the line

Re: So that's what you do with youngsters
Liverpool's Connor Bradley (the 19 yo) has had too fantastic games in the space of 4 days... two assists and a goal while looking very comfortable.

U18 and U21 results would indicate that we have youngsters who are just as good.

Obviously I can see why we scout abroad for good young players but it doesn't make sense that we ignore our own. I know that everyone will say that your Connor Coventry's, Josh Cullens, Reece Burke's etc have achieved very little on leaving but the current crop of U21s need to be given a chance.

Mubama you could argue hasn't taken his chance. Personally I think he offers more than Ings but no one is going to shine in the last ten minutes with Moyes invariably putting ten men behind the ball.

Scarles, Orford and Marshall (before he went on loan) have been training with the first team. I very much doubt Moyes will leave but if he does we should prioritise a manager willing to give youth a chance. They can't be any worse than the performances currently being given by Ings, Fornals & Co.

I've just read Tony Carr's book. Interesting to see how it was, in terms of bringing the youth players in, what it became, and how it is now. He doesn't really talk about Moyes, though, as of course he (Carr) isn't there now.

Re: So that's what you do with youngsters
Was thinking when they said that that Connor Bradley was a 20yo N Ireland international that we could find some starts for OUR 19yo N Ireland international Callum Marshall.
Or some of the 19yo's from last years FA Youth Cup winning team

If we have some of the best U18's and U21's (based on recent results over the last few season), and they're not getting into he first team, then it's obvious where (or who) the problem is.
